RCA Track Replacement Project
Over the past 40 to 50 years Roseburg Christian Academy has shared a substantial part of their campus outdoor space and track with the Hucrest Community. Children and adults have enjoyed this green space to learn how to play ball, ride bikes, play soccer and others have used the track to run/walk laps. No matter the use, the community knew it was available to them when the students were not actively playing/using the fields. It has been a beautiful, respectful relationship over many decades. We want to continue this relationship. The time is now when we are asking the community to help us bring this treasured track back to its prior glory by replacing the current track with a new quality track. This would be the first project of three phases for this outdoor space. Future goals also include peewee soccer fields (3), an updated/improved softball field, along with a basketball court. In the planning process we have come under contract with I.E. Engineering and they have created a preliminary design. A meeting was set up with the City of Roseburg about this project and their input was incredibly positive. The new track is planned to be 200 meters, which is one half the size of a traditional track. The cost of the project will be approximately around $250,000.00. This budget would cover not only the new track but also improvements to the playground, installation of fencing, a new dumpster, and leveling for the soccer fields. Our RCA Track Project Team is committed to keeping all costs down to a minimum. If we can complete the project for less money, then the excess funds will go to improve the next phase. The spaghetti dinner will be provided by Andrew Calvert of The Perfect Occasion & The Chapel.
